Changed People. Changed Communities.
Because we believe in the hope of Christ to change a child and that children can change the world, Compassion exists as an advocate for children in poverty. We believe:
- Children are essential to God's kingdom.
- The most strategic way to end poverty is to release children from spiritual, economic, social and physical poverty so that they may become fulfilled Christian adults.
- A future filled with self-sufficient Christian leaders is a future without poverty.
Focus on the Individual Child
While other ministries offer short-term relief to children in poverty, Compassion's church-based holistic child development programs offer an effective way to tackle the root causes of poverty. Our programs are:
- Child Focused. Compassion engages children as complete individuals, addressing their spiritual, economic, social and physical poverty and enabling them to become responsible and fulfilled Christians.
- Church Based. All of our programs are carried out by the local church in the community in which the children we serve live.
- Christ Centered. Compassion keeps Christ at the center of all we do. All Compassion employees and local church partners are Christian.
- Committed to Integrity. Compassion is dedicated to delivering excellent programs with complete financial integrity. We are highly rated by many financial watchdog groups including Charity Navigators, Ministry Watch and the American Institute of Philanthropy.
