  • Kanpirom Karnkrasang at Bangkok Bible Seminary

    Kanpirom Karnkrasang is a 24-year-old graduate of Bangkok Bible Seminary. She plans to work at the local church in her hometown, which is a leprosy colony in the Surin province of Thailand. Growing up, Kanpirom was teased and mistreated for being a descendent of lepers, but the Compassion center was her safe haven. The staff there loved and cared for her; it was their encouragement that empowered Kanpirom to attend university and be trained as a servant leader who will give back to her community.

He is part of Compassion's Leadership Development Program, which empowers young adults to give back to their communities through higher education and Christian leadership training. Ronny hopes to use his degree to provide electricity for remote areas of Indonesia by harnessing the power of water sources.

    Rosa Angelica Patzan Cos is a 23-year-old university student in Guatemala City. She is studying to become an auditor. Without Compassion's intervention in her life, Rosa says she would know nothing about the love of Jesus. The Child Sponsorship Program set her on a new path as a young girl, and the Leadership Development Program is now helping her achieve her dream of one day owning her own auditing company.

    Eyerusalem Haile is a 22-year-old graduate of Compassion's Leadership Development Program in Ethiopia, through which she studied electrical and computer engineering. She says that though she always had the potential to be a leader, Compassion maximized it. Today, Eyerusalem is working to improve the lives of children in poverty in her community, as Compassion did for her.

    Lia Purwandari (left) studies with a classmate at Jakarta Public University, where she is pursing an economics degree through Compassion's Leadership Development Program in Indonesia. Though she is just one year into her studies, Lia is already putting her economics knowledge to use. She and her mother sell tempura from a food cart, and Lia has helped maximize and multiple their profits.

He is studying industrial engineering through Compassion's Leadership Development Program in Colombia, which empowers young adults through higher education and Christian leadership training. Darwin has a passion for helping others; last year, he used his gift of music to help lead a group of drug addicts to accept Jesus as their Savior.

    Joanita Luyiga's childhood was comfortable until her father died of AIDS. Though her mother continued to work as a farmer, the family fell deeper into poverty. Joanita was registered with Compassion's program, which she says gave her a vision and purpose for her future. Today, Joanita is studying information technology at Makerere University through the Leadership Development Program in Uganda. After graduation she plans to complete her master's degree and then work as a database manager.

    Jairus Melchor Rabino Melchor is a 24-year-old graduate of Philippine Maritime Institute, thanks to Compassion's Leadership Development Program. Education was not a priority in Jairus' family, because they simply couldn't afford it; he is very proud of his Bachelor of Science degree in customs administration. Today, Jairus works as a licensed customs broker for a global company in Parañaque City, Philippines.

    Israel Candia is a graduate of Compassion's Leadership Development Program in Bolivia. He stands in front of one of the university buildings where he studied law. Through Compassion, Israel learned how to be a Christian servant leader. He served as a pastor in a local church while he was in school. Today, Israel operates his own legal practice, which focuses on family law.

In a field that can often be corrupt, Israel is dedicated to conducting his practice in a Godly way, serving as a Christian example for others in his community.

Through Compassion's Leadership Development Program, he will not only get a degree but also be empowered as a Christian servant leader. After graduation, Phetcharayud plans to complete his master's degree and then go back to his home village to help the people there grow better crops.

Thanks to Compassion and support from his local church, Juan David is on his way to fulfilling his dream.

Compassion's Leadership Development Program gave Yared the opportunity to continue his education at university, as well as to receive Christian leadership training, so he can serve as a Christ-like example in his community and nation.

    Juvy Castro Curray holds her diploma from graduating Compassion's Leadership Development Program in the Philippines. She grew up in a community where many adults are unemployed and where many children are malnourished. Thanks to Compassion, Juvy was able to study at the University of the Philippines and be empowered with leadership skills, so she can work to improve the lives of future generations in her community.

    Eustache Salomon is studying social work through Compassion's Leadership Development Program in Haiti. He poses for a photo in the classroom at Haiti's Human Science College where he was sitting minutes before the January 2010 earthquake struck Port-au-Prince. Eustache was taking a break outside in the courtyard when many of his classmates died in the earthquake. Today, he helps dozens of other children deal with the stress of such a disaster.

    Jenner Alexandre works on a class assignment. Through Compassion's Leadership Development Program in Haiti, he is able to attend university in Port-au-Prince, where he is working toward a Bachelor of Science degree. Jenner is also a staff member at his former Compassion child development center. When he graduates, he dreams of opening an orphanage in his hometown to help the vast number of children who live on the street.
