NASHVILLE, Tenn. - Compassion International is excited to announce that the award-winning vocal group Acappella has joined its roster of partnering music artists. As a partner artist, the highly acclaimed group will share about Compassion at their live concert events, encouraging those in attendance to get involved as sponsors in the lives of children living in poverty. Materials explaining Compassion's strategic approach to child development through sponsorship will be readily available during Acappella's performances.

"I was fortunate to have traveled with Acappella to El Salvador," Rick Mitchell, Compassion Vice President of Marketing and Development said. "I watched as these young men's hearts were broken by the effects of poverty in the lives of children. You could see the transformation as they interacted with children and realized the hope and promise that Compassion's programs provide. I know that many children's lives will be rescued as a result of the testimony and challenge that Acappella provides to their audience."

"Since our inception, Acappella has been dedicated to spreading the gospel to the world through unique a cappella music. Partnering with Compassion allows us to add a physical aspect to that goal. We are very excited about our future with Compassion International," said Gary Moyers, President of Acappella Ministries.

Acappella has long been a defining force in contemporary Christian music. The group has recorded 18 albums and performed almost 3000 concerts for audiences around the world since the group was formed in 1982. In its 20-year history, Acappella has become a model of excellence in music and commitment to ministry. In that time, the foursome has performed to millions of people in the United States, as well as South Africa, Australia, Brazil, China, Japan, Jamaica, France, Holland, Switzerland, the Bahamas, the Cayman Islands and the French West Indies.

Compassion International is dedicated to the long-term holistic development of children living in poverty. The organization works with more than 65 denominations and scores of indigenous church partners in Africa, Asia, Central and South America, the Caribbean, and with churches and youth workers in the United States. Since 1952, Compassion has touched the lives of more than a million children. Many of Compassion's sponsorships are generated through partnerships with well-known artists, authors, and speakers.
