David A. Dahlin, Executive Vice President

As Compassion's Executive Vice President, David is responsible for developing and supervising all aspects of the ministry's operations and managing the Global Executive Leadership Committee. Since joining Compassion's ministry in 1994, David has gained a thorough understanding of Compassion's work and a deep appreciation for the children and families he has been called to assist.

Mark Hanlon, Senior Vice President of the USA Group

Mark’s first contact with Compassion was as a sponsor in 1977. He became a staff member in 1978 and has been a member of the Global Executive Leadership Team since 1998. Mark had a strong Christian missionary upbringing, as his parents ran inner-city missions in Washington, D.C. and Chicago.

Compassion's Annual Report

Compassion International is deeply committed to limiting overhead costs while maximizing the opportunities and effectiveness of our time-proven, child-focused program activities. As a result, during fiscal year 2010-2011, less than 20 percent of every dollar spent was used for administration and development, and more than 80 percent of every dollar spent was invested in life-changing programs.

Compassion's work has grown from modest beginnings in South Korea in 1952 when American evangelist Rev. Everett Swanson felt compelled to help 35 children orphaned by the Korean conflict. Today we have a worldwide ministry where more than 1.2 million.
