"My prayer is not for them alone. I pray also for those who will believe in me through their message, that all of them may be one, Father, just as you are in me and I am in you. May they also be in us so that the world may believe that you have sent me."
John 17:20-21
Compassion-sponsored children have access to educational opportunities, medical care, nutritious food and knowledge of the love of Jesus. The children have been so blessed that many of them pray for their sponsors every day. Yet the children need prayer, too.
The following are prayer requests from the Kenya Country Office about the children, families, church partners and staff in Kenya:
- Please pray for the government of Kenya as they roll out the new constitution. Pray for godly leaders to rise up and govern the country. Pray for God's justice and peace to be evident throughout the country.
- Pray for the efforts of the Compassion staff. May the Lord bless the work of their hands and allow their plans to succeed so that they may bring glory and acknowledgement to His name. Pray that the center activities will inspire the children and bring them joy.
- Pray for the many parents who are splitting up and the families that are being torn apart because of separation. Pray for the Lord to protect the children's hearts and minds from the negativity and low self-esteem that comes from these situations. Please pray that the parents will seek help and that the Lord will give them a desire to commit to their marriage.
- Please pray for the children who have witnessed violence and other cruelties experienced in poverty. Ask for the Lord to protect their minds and hearts so that they do not give in to despair but that they would come to understand the love the Lord has for them.
