Sponsors, donors and others engaged in the fight to release children from poverty around the world will be able to have a more interactive and user friendly online experience as Compassion International, the world's largest Christian child development and sponsorship organization, announces the launch of its redesigned website.

Now, site visitors will quickly be able to learn about Compassion’s four main programs including child sponsorship, rescuing babies and mothers through the Child Survival Program, educating and developing future leaders through the Leadership Development Program and meeting critical needs through Complementary Interventions. Other enhancements include more detailed information on the countries in which Compassion works complete with stories, maps, crisis updates and blog posts.

In addition to practical information about programs and countries, the new site will make it easier for visitors to stay informed on what’s happening in Compassion’s world and share that information with others.

“Our newly redesigned website accurately reflects Compassion as a holistic child development organization that addresses the individual child’s physical needs as well as his or her economic, educational and spiritual needs,” said Mark Hanlon, senior vice president, USA, of Compassion International. “I invite everyone to browse the site, get acquainted with our organizational mission and join us in rescuing children from a life of poverty.”

Compassion decided to move forward with a redesign due to the increasing demands on the site brought on by the growth of the organization. Since 2003 when the old website was first built, Compassion has more than doubled the number of children being served and today serves more than 1.2 million children in 26 of the world’s poorest countries.

“Our tremendous growth would not have been possible without dedicated sponsors and donors who are educated and engaged in the plight of global poverty,” states Hanlon. “This newly designed version will help them be better equipped to serve the children they sponsor and be advocates for a noble cause.”

The new system used to manage the content of the site is built on the Tridion content management platform, an industry leading tool for managing and displaying websites. Compassion also worked with Hintech for technical development and programming and Viget Labs for design.

Compassion International is the world’s largest Christian child development organization that permanently releases children from poverty. Founded in 1952, Compassion successfully tackles global poverty one child at a time, serving more than 1.2 million children in 26 of the world’s poorest countries. Recognizing that poverty is more than a lack of money, Compassion works through local churches to holistically address the individual physical, economic, educational and spiritual needs of children - enabling them to thrive, not just survive. Compassion has been awarded ten consecutive, four-star ratings by Charity Navigator, America’s largest charity evaluator.
