Welcome MOPS Moms!

Welcome MOPS Moms!

MOPS and Compassion are working together to teach kids and families about God’s heart for the poor — and how we can make a difference together!

“If it were not for Compassion, my child wouldn’t have lived until now. But God is good.” — Bizuayehu, Ethiopia

“Nehemiah said, ‘Go and enjoy choice food and sweet drinks, and send some to those who have nothing prepared. This day is holy to our LORD. Do not grieve, for the joy of the LORD is your strength.’” — Nehemiah 8:10

Growing Compassion at Home

We know that MOPS moms desire to raise children who become compassionate adults, and we have some tools available that you can use with your family at home, most of them free and especially for you!

Bible for Kids, God’s Big Plan Book

Children served by Compassion International illustrated this Bible, which is designed to help children understand God’s special plan for each of us. It includes discussion questions and challenges to educate kids about poverty around the world.

A Country Far Away

This picture book for ages 3-6 shows pictorial comparisons of a child in the Western world and a child in the developing world, focusing on their many similarities.

Compassion Gift Catalog

This catalog offers your family the opportunity to bring purpose and meaning back to gift-giving at Christmas. It is full of nontraditional gifts you can give on behalf of your child’s teachers, grandparents, and more. You can even raise funds as a MOPS group or just in your family and give away Christmas! Do your holiday shopping online or request a print catalog.

Child Sponsorship through Compassion International

Developing a relationship with a child who lives in poverty puts a human face on compassion. Your family will grow in compassion as you correspond with your sponsored child. You might even decide to go meet him or her in person one day! Choose a child to sponsor.

Give, Save, Spend Piggy Bank

Begin teaching your child from an early age how to separate his or her money into categories of Give, Save and Spend. Here are instructions and a free printable for making a bank that will help illustrate this concept in a hands-on activity.

Compassion Coloring Pages

Sharing Compassion with MOPS

Compassion has been in partnership with MOPS for 12 years. We are dynamic partners because our organizations have so much in common, including:

  • We both seek Christ-centered holistic development for moms and their children.
  • We both provide nurturing and education for moms right in their own communities.
  • We both teach practical skills for managing a household and a family.
  • We both operate through the local church.

The moms in your MOPS group can benefi t from knowing about Compassion International and what it does to support moms just like them across the developing world. We have created these simple tools especially for you and your group.

“When they cry out to me, I will hear, for I am compassionate.” — Exodus 22:27

I told my MOPS group about a time when my son spilled an entire box of Cheerios on the ground. I immediately just vacuumed them up, and in that moment I realized that had that accident happened somewhere else, dozens of children would have surrounded me and gladly eaten what I was throwing away, not because it was dirty or inedible, but just because I knew I had plenty more available.” — Dara, MOPS mom sharing Compassion bravely

“Then the LORD your God will restore your fortunes and have compassion on you and gather you again from all the nations where he scattered you.” — Deuteronomy 30:3
