To save space in their small house, Lelliane's family hangs their clean dishes on a wall. Rain water seeps into the home, and the dirt floors get muddy. Lelliane's mom sometimes worries that heavy rains will wash away their house, since it's not made out of strong materials.

Lelliane washes dishes outside in pans of water, since her house doesn't have running water. Because Lelliane's dad does not make enough money to pay for the family's food, home, clothes, school supplies and other needs, Compassion registered Lelliane in 2012. She receives food, medicine, lessons and games at her Compassion center. Lelliane has fun playing with friends and is even learning to play guitar and drums there!

Lelliane helps her mom with housework and watches her younger siblings. Their small rental home has clay walls and dirt floors. Her dad has a job as a builder, but he doesn't get paid during times when no one needs his help. There have been nights when Lelliane went to bed hungry because her parents couldn't afford food.

Even though they live in poverty, Lelliane and her mom know that God has a plan for them. Lelliane's sponsors, who live in Utah, send letters telling Lelliane how much they care about her. And at her Compassion center, Lelliane receives nutritious meals and learns about God's love through the Bible, which gives her hope for her future.
