Niños en Victoria Child Survival Program (El Salvador)
West of San Miguel, El Salvador

The community of Jucuapa is located in an urban area of El Salvador. Because it is one of the most violent parts of the country, crime and gang activity are common.

Among the poor here, one of the biggest issues is teenage pregnancy – the average age a woman first becomes a mother is 14. More than 40 percent of these young women are single mothers and are often uneducated and not able to provide adequately for their children.

Malnutrition and disease cause many problems for these young mothers and their children and access to adequate health care is rare. This causes an alarmingly high number of children who die before their fifth birthday.

Thankfully it is here in the midst of these heartbreaking circumstances that the Niños en Victoria Child Survival Program (CSP) is changing lives. Women and their children who attend the Niños en Victoria CSP have access to many benefits including:

  • supplemental food and clean water
  • regular health care and immunizations
  • hygiene training and child-rearing workshops
  • a Bible and discipleship
  • vocational workshops for caregivers
  • literacy training
  • emotional support and counseling

In a community where young women face such insurmountable obstacles, Niños en Victoria CSP is a true refuge. Women and their children have a safe place to escape the hopelessness of their poverty and discover God’s love for them.

You can be a part of this hope-giving miracle.

esc15-220X220When eighteen-year-old Meivelline got pregnant as a young teenager, she had to drop out of school. It wasn’t until she began attending Niños en Victoria CSP that Meivelline’s life changed dramatically.

Meivelline lives with her now three-year-old son Jose, mother and brother in a small home built of aluminum and brick. To earn money, Meivelline sells vegetables in the market with her mother and, since joining the CSP, she has been able to resume her schooling at night.

The CSP also provides this young mother with basic needs, support and instruction about how to care for baby. The differences the CSP makes go far beyond the physical.

“My life has changed completely thanks to my Lord Jesus, now I am a Christian and my family has started to attend to the local church with me.”

You can be part of the success story for these mothers and babies in poverty. Support this center for just $20 a month.
