Registration: Our trips fill up quickly on a first-come basis, so it is important to register immediately. Once we have received your registration along with a deposit of $380.00, we will confirm your place on the tour and you may then purchase your domestic air ticket. The final payment of $3970.00 is due no later than 11/14/2013.

Price: The cost of this tour is $4350.00 per person for double occupancy.
Included in our tour price are round-trip airfare between New York (JFK) and Kilimanjaro, Tanzania, lodging, all meals, travel within Tanzania, tips, your child's travel, guides and translators during the tour, admission fees, departure tax and administrative costs.
Costs not included in the tour price are transportation to and from New York, passport and incidentals such as snacks, additional beverages, laundry, phone calls, film and other personal items. You may want to bring extra spending money for shopping at the local markets.
Safety and Preparation:This tour will be more difficult because of long flights, time changes, and impoverished conditions. Also, there will be some walking, rides on bumpy roads and long days.
Compassion constantly monitors the safety of our destination countries and will make any adjustments necessary to protect our tour participants, sponsored children and in-country staff. We believe it is important to provide safe, comfortable accommodations, traditional meals and reliable transportation so that your focus can be on what God is teaching you and the impact of the experience rather than concern for your personal safety and well-being.

Days 1 and 2 - Theme: Getting There
Saturday and Sunday, March 8 and 9: Meeting in John F Kennedy Airport in New York on Saturday we board a KLM Airlines plane for our late afternoon flight across the Atlantic and into Amsterdam. A couple hours gives us time for tea, shopping, walking, or relaxing before leaving mid-morning for Africa. Arriving at Kilimanjaro Airport we proceed through immigration, reclaim our luggage, pass through customs and are welcomed by our Tanzania staff. Loading our luggage on the buses we head down the road to Arusha and our hotel.
Days 3 and 4 - Theme: Exploring Newly Expanded Region of Ministry & the Child Survival Program
Monday and Tuesday, March 10 and 11: This tour will focus on the Singida region, which has been a region of expansion for Compassion Tanzania over the past few years due to the severe need. Since this will be among the first groups to visit this region the children and student center staff are sure be very excited to meet and interact with sponsors. Monday morning will be devoted to getting to the Singida region. Upon arrival we’ll have lunch at our hotel and unload luggage. After lunch, we’ll visit a nearby child development center to learn about Complementary Interventions. You’ll be amazed at how significant such grants are for the implementing church partners to improve and enhance their impact in the lives of children and their families. Since today is not a day that children typically attend the activities at the child development center, we’ll have time to meet and interact with the staff, learn the mutual benefit of Compassion partnership with the local church and see first-hand how meticulously the staff monitors the developmental progress of each child they serve. On Tuesday, you are in for a treat as beautiful mothers and caregivers and darling babies welcome us to their Child Survival Center. We’ll learn about the difference this good start in life is making for the babies but also the difference literacy skills and Bible study are making in the lives of the mothers.
Days 5 to 8 - Theme: Serving Together in Ministry as we Learn about the Child Development Program
March 12 – 15: Continuing on in Singida we’ll learn the primary causes of the fact that this is one of the poorest regions in all of Tanzania and the solutions needed to address these causes. As we bring forth the gifts and talents God has given us as a team, we’ll create a vacation bible school-like program to encourage the children we meet as well as the tutors and staff who serve them. Over the next few days, we’ll interact with 100’s of children who attend various child development centers in this region. And to make the experience more personal, you’ll have the opportunity to visit homes of some of the beneficiaries to learn from them first-hand about life in Tanzania and the hope the Lord has brought to them through the opportunities their children receive through their participation.
Days 8 & 9 – Theme: Safari experience
Saturday and Sunday, March 15 & 16: Due to the educational system in Africa, children are in school for full days during the week, so their program contact for Compassion opportunities happens over 8 hours each Saturday. So, we’ll experience a half day at such a program before packing up and heading to Maramboi Tented Lodge where we will overnight before our safari on Sunday. Later today, we transfer to Arusha for the last few days of our adventure. Tonight we’ll meet some of the incredible emerging young leaders who are part of Compassion’s Leadership Development Program, which has only started recently in Tanzania.
Day 10 & 11 – Child/Sponsor Fun Day & Wrapping Up
Monday and Tuesday, March 17 & 18: Fun Day is finally here. The day you have prepared for, thought about and long anticipated has finally arrived. The children will come to us at the Ngurdoto Mountain Lodge, where we will be staying. Having learned more about the Leadership Development Program will equip you with the knowledge and specific eligibility criteria to encourage your sponsored child about such an opportunity. Tuesday, we’ll spend the morning at the Compassion Tanzania office to experience morning devotions, take a tour of the various departments and to give you an opportunity to ask any last minute questions you may have brought that have not yet been answered. Later we’ll have time for shopping at a local market before heading back to the hotel to pack up, fly out and return home. Please note: while the trip ends in Tanzania on the 18th, you won’t be back in the US until the 19th.
In order to ensure our children's protection and determine eligibility to travel with Compassion, we now require all travelers (over the age of 18) to complete a criminal background check to ensure the safety of the children in our programs. If you are unable to complete this online, please contact us and we will send you a paper form for you to fill out and return. Compassion uses a third party vendor, Protect My Ministry to process background checks. The results of your background check are confidential and all personal information is encrypted and secure.
RESERVATIONS should be made well in advance and require a nonrefundable deposit of $380.00 per person. The final payment of $3970.00 is due no later than 11/14/2013.
AIR TRANSPORTATION and FUEL SURCHARGES
Air transportation as included in the tour is based on economy-class transportation and is subject to all rules and regulations governing these fares. Fuel surcharges are added on a per-ticket basis at time of confirmation. In the event these surcharges are increasingly higher than budget estimates, we may require additional funds to cover these surcharges.
Airlines will frequently have flight changes that may interfere with your international connection from your domestic flight. Please understand that we are not responsible for any costs associated with airline changes as they are outside of our control. For this reason, we recommend allowing at least four hours between arrival time at the gateway city and the time the group flight departs the airport. We will communicate any pricing and itinerary changes immediately.

- All deposits are nonrefundable.
- Fifty percent of the tour cost will be required for cancellations 59-31 days prior to the sponsor tour.
- One hundred percent of the tour cost will be required for cancellations 30-0 days prior to the sponsor tour.
- Only written cancellations accepted.
IMPORTANT NOTICE: COMPASSION INTERNATIONAL reserves the right to adjust or alter any travel program when necessary or desirable for the protection, safety or improvement of said travel program, or when local conditions do not permit operation as published. COMPASSION INTERNATIONAL reserves the right to accept or deny participants application at its sole discretion.
RESPONSIBILITY: COMPASSION INTERNATIONAL makes arrangements with airlines, hotels and other independent parties to provide you with the travel services you purchase. These parties are independent suppliers over whom we have no direct control. In the absence of negligence on our part, we are not responsible for any claims, losses, damages, costs or expenses arising out of injury, accident or death; damage, loss or delay of baggage or other property; or delay, inconvenience, loss of enjoyment, upset, disappointment, distress or frustration, whether physical or mental, resulting from (1) the act or omission of any party other than COMPASSION INTERNATIONAL or its employees; (2) mechanical breakdown, government actions, weather or other factors beyond our control; (3) failure to obtain documents, passports, visas and health certificates valid through the date of reentry, when required, in which case a cancellation charge will be assessed; (4) failure to follow instructions including but not limited to check-in and checkout times and baggage handling; (5) cancellation or change for any reason in the travel services offered; and (6) medical or health problems or physical disabilities. COMPASSION INTERNATIONAL reserves the right to cancel or alter the travel services at its discretion, except as otherwise noted herein. In the event of change, COMPASSION INTERNATIONAL will try to substitute comparable services; in the event of complete cancellation by COMPASSION INTERNATIONAL, we shall refund all monies paid to us. COMPASSION INTERNATIONAL will not be responsible for any other cost incurred by participants.
