Prayer Calendar 2014 - Participation in the Prayer Partner Network is an essential part of our ministry to children and families in poverty.

When you join our Prayer Partner Network, you will receive our monthly prayer calendar via e-mail during the last week of the month. Our monthly prayer calendar helps you pray consistently for something very close to God's heart. Children. All we ask is that you take a few minutes each day to pray for a child and commit the need to our loving Father.

Dear Prayer Partner,

“A good man leaves an inheritance to his children’s children” (Proverbs 13:22, NASB). As a parent, and now a grandparent, I sometimes wonder, What am I passing on to my son and grandson? What will they inherit from me?

I’m not thinking of physical mementos or treasures. Those are things I can leave in a will. What I really pray I’m passing on are things that will last forever. For example, my hope is that my son has seen kindness and gentleness in me as a father — and that he will show his son those same things.

It is a privilege to leave an inheritance to the children in our lives. But with that privilege comes great responsibility, because we can pass on negative traits as easily as positive ones. It takes intentionality to leave a positive legacy.

One of the things that excites me about Compassion is that as children are being released from extreme poverty, they can receive a new legacy, a new future, which many will grow up to pass on to their own children and to their children’s children. Letters and encouragement from sponsors and your continuing prayer support are making an eternal impact. As we continue ministering to children and their families, I am confident that poverty’s hold will continue to weaken from generation to generation.

Would you continue to pray this month for these children as they receive this new inheritance — one filled with hope for a brighter future? And thank you, as always, for the loving legacy you are leaving the children you lift up in prayer each month!
