With over 25 years’ experience in Peru, all Compassion’s core programs are operating effectively and eager for your visit. Whether it’s the beginning with Child Survival or all the way through to the university students in Leadership Development you’re a part of it. You’ll hear heart breaking stories of mothers who had no hope and thought all was lost. But now they’re learning life skills, how to be a better wife and mother, and having Bible study to learn to be a godly woman. During time at a student center you’ll learn all it takes to make a difference in the life of a child. Whether attending classes, sharing in devotions, interacting with the children, or teaching them a new craft you’re building relationships. And relationships are what Compassion is all about. Visits to the homes of mothers and children near the centers we visit give us a good look at their daily life and all the effort it takes to just survive in these situations. How many other types of tours can you go on that give you such close and personal time with the people? The stories you can share back home. Your sponsored child, that very special youngster in your life, is the highlight of the tour for you. A full day of fun and drawing closer will never be forgotten by either of you.
You’ve read the Compassion stories over the years but now you can experience it for yourself. Nothing can replace that! As we spend this week together in Peru, we’ll take time to process what God is really doing with our partnership. Serving others is amazing. Departing Lima we quickly realize that we left the US going there and give to others but are coming home having received so much more. It’s absolutely amazing what a powerful God and dedicated caring people can do together. Yes, you are making a difference. Please prayerfully consider joining our September Peru sponsor tour to see that difference.

Day 1: Peru Here We Come
Sunday, September 15: Our Peruvian experience starts this afternoon in Miami when our American Airlines flight takes off for Lima. We can only imagine as we start to get acquainted with our new family.
Days 2-4: Learning How it All Works
Monday-Wednesday, September 16-18: Starting with Child Survival our first visit shows us why the babies are so vulnerable. What a difference this home-based program makes! The next day we meet the dedicated staff that oversees all of Compassion’s work in Peru. We are so humbled and proud to be co-laborers. The pieces of the puzzle are starting to fit together and it’s great to get our questions answered. A center visit on Wednesday not only allows us time to interact with the children but to see the detailed records on each child that are maintained in the office. Children are not just a number but so much more. The staff knows each one as an individual. You’ll be amazed how they track their progress, health, and even letters to you. Sitting down in a near-by home and sharing with the family over lunch moves us to do even more for those less-fortunate. At one of the centers we’ll see Complementary Intervention Funds being applied and making a difference. During a special dinner one night we’re joined by young adults who have graduated from our sponsorship program as well as some university students participating in our Leadership Development program. Definitely they’re fruits of our ministry.
Day 5: It’s Finally Here!
Thursday, September 19: What a day this will be! We can’t even imagine that first hug from our sponsored child. We’re actually meeting face-to-face. As we continue to build our relationship we realize God made the perfect match. How fun to watch these little kings and queens for a day continue to be amazed at all the fun they can have. Little family units enjoying a delicious buffet together remind us what all this choice of food must mean to ones who are thankful for anything to eat. It’s time to give our gifts and those final words of encouragement. A big group photo will help to give those at home some idea of our amazing day. Imagine all the stories we share over dinner!
Days 6-8: Time to Take it Home
Friday-Sunday, September 20-22: Final visits to child development centers give us a lasting memory of how our partnership with Compassion really works. A local godly evangelical pastor with passionate staff are shaping their Compassion children and releasing them from poverty in Jesus’ name. We are so thankful we came to encourage them and commit to consistently pray for them. We leave inspired by God’s awesomeness! Very early Sunday morning our American Airlines flight leaves Lima giving us an arrival in Miami with plenty of time to connect home. To God be the glory for great things He has done in our lives during our time together in Peru!
In order to ensure our children's protection and determine eligibility to travel with Compassion, we now require all travelers (over the age of 18) to complete a criminal background check to ensure the safety of the children in our programs.
Please visit Screening One Sponsor Tour BC to complete your online background check at the time of registration. If you are unable to complete this online, please contact us and we will send you a paper form for you to fill out and return. Compassion uses a third party vendor, Screening One to process background checks. The results of your background check are confidential and all personal information is encrypted and secure.
RESERVATIONS should be made well in advance and require a nonrefundable deposit of $280.00 per person. Final Payment of $3180.00 is due no later than 5/30/2013.
