If you choose to join this trip, you are in for an incredible experience. India is unlike any other country you could visit. The beauty of the people, diverse landscape, breath-taking artistry and unique culture make it an incredible place to visit. This promises to be no ordinary trip to India. We have deliberately shortened the trip to make it more accessible to sponsors who either prefer a lower cost or cannot afford as much time away from home. But don’t think you will miss out on anything. On this trip, we will experience Chennai and visit a never before visited region of India known as Nagpur in the north-central area of the country. If you choose to join this team, you will be among the first sponsors to visit and encourage the churches of this area. They have endured much persecution in order to reach radical Muslim and Hindu children and their families with the Gospel.
Along the way, we’ll learn the unique challenges they face, how additional Compassion programs, like Child Survival and the Leadership Development Program, are shaping this generation and just how ripe the harvest really is in this enormous country. As is typical of sponsor tours, rather than sending sponsors off in multiple directions for child visits, we bring the children to a fun, safe central location to spend an entire day. Together you make memories and build an even deeper friendship through fun and laughter. If you choose to join this tour, your child will become part of the 1% of Compassion-assisted children who get to meet their sponsor. This reality will make them feel so very special.
Perhaps you are reading this and wondering what do I have to offer? Maybe you don’t feel you are specifically gifted in ministry with children. Yet God has given you a heart for India and the children there. If that is you, I encourage you to step out by faith and become part of something truly life-changing.
So stop right now and pray, ask the Lord if He is calling you to India on this special sponsor tour. If He is, I encourage you to step out in faith and register today. This will be an adventure you will never forget. See you soon!

Safety and Preparation This tour will be more difficult because of long international flights, major time change, and impoverished conditions. Also, there will be some walking, rides on bumpy roads, and long days.
Compassion constantly monitors the safety of our destination countries and will make any adjustments necessary to protect our tour participants, sponsored children and in-country staff. We believe it is important to provide safe, comfortable accommodations, traditional meals and reliable transportation so that your focus can be on what God is teaching you and the impact of the experience rather than concern for your personal safety and well-being.

Days 1-2: Travel to India
We begin our adventure in ministry together in Newark, NJ where we will depart for Chennai, India. It will take us about two days to reach our destination. This will give us time to unite as a team. Day 3: Orientation and Team Building After a long journey, we will ease into our first day with a visit to our country office in Chennai, some sight-seeing, and some shopping
Day 4: Child Visit Day for Children in the Chennai area/Visit a Compassion Child Development Center
For those of you who sponsor a child who lives near to Chennai, you will meet your child at this Child/Sponsor Fun Day. If you do not have a child in this region, you will visit a Compassion Child Development Center. There you will learn about what long-term, holistic child development really looks like and why it vital to transforming the poorest of the poor. You will also meet some incredible young leaders who are part of Compassion’s Leadership Development Program.
Day 5: Travel to Nagpur
Today we transition to a region where we have not yet taken a group of sponsors. This area is very industrial. Here Hindu and Muslim radicals are lovingly taught by the Evangelical churches the Lord has planted among them. Although travel will take most of the day, it will definitely be worth it. It is the day some of you have been waiting for. Today you will have the opportunity to meet the child/children you sponsor in South India and to spend the entire day making memories together. Those without a child to visit in this part of the country will have a day to rest and relax or shop.
Day 6: Experience Compassion’s Child Survival Program
Together we will learn about the Child Survival Program and the Child Development Program and how Complementary Interventions deeply impact children from both programs, their families and their community at large.
Day 7: Child Visit Day for Children in Northern India/Visit a Child Development Center
For those of you who sponsor a child that lives in or near the Northern part of the country, you will meet your child at this Child/Sponsor Fun Day. If you do not have a child in this region, you will visit a Compassion Child Development Center to learn about what long-term, holistic child development really looks like and how it is transforming the poorest of the poor in this region.
Day 8 & 9: Wrap-up and Return to the US
We wrap-up our fast, yet deeply impacting trip.
In order to ensure our children's protection and determine eligibility to travel with Compassion, we now require all travelers (over the age of 18) to complete a criminal background check to ensure the safety of the children in our programs.
Please visit Screening One Sponsor Tour BC to complete your online background check at the time of registration. If you are unable to complete this online, please contact us and we will send you a paper form for you to fill out and return. Compassion uses a third party vendor, Screening One to process background checks. The results of your background check are confidential and all personal information is encrypted and secure.
