Your child is waiting to meet you face to face and you can actually spend a day with them. This really brings meaning to your relationship. We also want to show you what your partnership with Compassion is doing. Our dedicated country staff is called to make a difference, an eternal difference, in the lives of their people. What better way to do that than through the local evangelical church. During our visits to the student centers we will spend time encouraging the pastors and staffs as they serve at the very basis of our ministry. It doesn’t matter which student center we’re visiting you will learn so much. While focusing on child development through sponsorship we learn how they work with the children in classrooms and individually. Time in their office shows us the incredible planning and records they have. Maybe you’re wondering if they really know who your child is and are they seen as an individual or just part of a group. When you examine the files of students you’ll be amazed at how they track everything individually. They know each child and care deeply about them. When we focus on child survival we learn from the mothers themselves how valuable this program is. Besides what is better than hugging and playing with cute little babies? When we focus on complementary interventions we’re impressed with how they use these special funds. They don’t just respond to emergencies but they also use them proactively for clean water, bathrooms, income generating activities, appropriate Bibles, etc. Then the evening we focus on leadership development and meet some graduates we realize our sponsorship really works. We have changed lives and in turn are helping to change and improve a wonderful country. To God be the glory! And we get to see it firsthand. No matter how wonderful all these experiences are the best is yet to come. That’s the day you spend with your sponsored child. What a fun day and one where you learn from each other. After gifts are exchanged, photos taken, and special prayers lifted above then the tears of joy come as you hug good-bye.
Please prayerfully consider this trip and then plan to join us in March. Remember our tours fill up quickly and you don’t want to miss this opportunity. You will be a blessing but in the process you will also be deeply blessed. And don’t forget those you’re traveling with because many deep friendships are made on sponsor tours.

Safety and Preparation This tour will be more difficult because of long international flights, major time change, and impoverished conditions. Also, there will be some walking, rides on bumpy roads, and long days.
Compassion constantly monitors the safety of our destination countries and will make any adjustments necessary to protect our tour participants, sponsored children and in-country staff. We believe it is important to provide safe, comfortable accommodations, traditional meals and reliable transportation so that your focus can be on what God is teaching you and the impact of the experience rather than concern for your personal safety and well-being.

Days 1-3: Time to Travel
Saturday-Monday, March 15-17: The excitement at the Qatar Airlines departure gate in Washington DC Dulles Airport Saturday night is building as we all come together. Now it’s time for our flight across the Atlantic. Arriving in Doha we have time for coffee and shopping before catching our next flight. Arriving in Chennai our adventure finally begins. India catches all of our senses and we are on our way. Checking into our hotel we have time to get settled before a late breakfast. Then we’re off to the Compassion Country Office which oversees all of our work in this part of India.
Days 4-5: A Special Time
Tuesday and Wednesday, March 18-19: It’s our first time to see a child development center and the staff is so eager to welcome us and share their vision. Yes, we have a lot to learn. As university students in our Leadership Development program share their hearts, hopes, and dreams with us it’s hard to find the words. We stand in awe as we realize their beginnings in abject poverty and see their confidence and ability now. Yes, it works! Then our highlight comes when we spend a full day with our sponsored day. And it will be a full day with different activities, quiet sharing, wonderful hugs, lots of smiles and joy, loads of pictures, and a delicious lunch. Group photo of our big family and special prayer with your child complete this memorable day.
Day 6: Going North
Thursday, March 20: Checking out of our hotel and saying good-bye to Chennai, we board our flight north to Delhi. But our journey isn’t over yet. It’s off to the railway station and our train ride to Jhansi. Compassion India is increasing their work in the north and we get to share in it. Our visit is just the encouragement they need.
Days 7-8: Learning More
Friday and Saturday, March 21-22: As we visit these student centers we see a difference between the south and the north but Compassion and the church remain the same. Of course we have time to play with the children, do sports activities, and work on crafts with them. Those hugs and smiles are reward enough. Visits to nearby children’s homes give us an idea of daily life with their challenges and happiness. This is what makes Compassion sponsorship different. It’s the relationship with the children and families.
Days 9-10: Time in Delhi
Sunday and Monday, March 23-24: This is the day the Lord has made, His Day, a day to praise and worship Him. And we get to share this with our Indian brothers and sisters at a partner church that oversees a child development center. Our joy is complete! Then it’s time to say good-bye to Jhansi and travel back to Delhi. New experiences await us here and we’re eager for more. Centers here show that each area is unique but all have needs and we can help fulfill them. Home visits here give us a comparison and broaden our understanding. Tonight’s farewell dinner gives us an opportunity to share our experiences and encourage our wonderful local staff.
Day 11: Time to Take It Home
Tuesday, March 25: Our flight leaves Delhi very early in the morning and we catch our last looks of India. How can these days have gone so quickly? A short stop in Doha to change planes gives us a little time to shop but then we’re off for the long flight home. Arriving back in Washington, DC midafternoon allows time for connecting flights home. We are changed and we are ready to share our stories. We truly are advocates for children and we promise to never forget our Indian experiences. We want folks to see the difference.
In order to ensure our children's protection and determine eligibility to travel with Compassion, we now require all travelers (over the age of 18) to complete a criminal background check to ensure the safety of the children in our programs.
Please visit Screening One Sponsor Tour BC to complete your online background check at the time of registration. If you are unable to complete this online, please contact us and we will send you a paper form for you to fill out and return. Compassion uses a third party vendor, Screening One to process background checks. The results of your background check are confidential and all personal information is encrypted and secure.
