Although Ecuador is the smallest of Andean countries, it holds historical, cultural and natural wonders enhancing the continent.  Straddling not only two hemispheres but also two worlds - the ancient and the modern - this tiny republic with its remnants of past civilizations and Spanish conquests offers travellers a striking blend of landscapes, peoples and cultures.  Ecuador boasts incredible diversity…Indigenous cultures, tropical forests, and active volcanoes, in a country no bigger than the state of Colorado. You won’t want to miss the opportunity to see Ecuador through the eyes of it’s children, meet the child you sponsor through Compassion and expand your knowledge and understanding of how Compassion is releasing these little ones from poverty in Jesus’ Name. Sign up today and prepare for a trip of a lifetime!

Registration: Our trips fill up quickly on a first-come basis, so it is important to register by 8/23/2011. Once we have received your registration along with a deposit of $280.00, we will confirm your place on the tour and you may then purchase your domestic air ticket. The final payment of $2120.00 is due no later than 11/9/2011.

Please register now to complete the registration form online. If you'd rather register by mail, print the Registraton Form.

Price: The cost of this tour is $2400.00 per person for doubleoccupancy.

Included in our tour price are round-trip airfare between Miami, FL and Ecuador, lodging, all meals, travel within Ecuador, tips, your child's travel, guides and translators during the tour, admission fees, departure tax and administrative costs.

Costs not included in the tour price are transportation to and from Miami, passport and incidentals such as snacks, additional beverages, laundry, phone calls, film and other personal items. You may want to bring extra spending money for shopping at the local markets.

Safety and Preparation: This tour will be moderate in difficulty because of impoverished conditions. Also, there will be some walking, rides on bumpy roads, and long days. We will have a light work element in this tour.

Compassion constantly monitors the safety of our destination countries and will make any adjustments necessary to protect our tour participants, sponsored children and in-country staff. We believe it is important to provide safe, comfortable accommodations, traditional meals and reliable transportation so that your focus can be on what God is teaching you and the impact of the experience rather than concern for your personal safety and well-being.

Please read the Tour Conditions and General Information document before finalizing your decision.

Day 1: Our Adventure Begins

Saturday, February 25th: Our journey begins with getting to know one another at our international departure gate form Miami. We will get to know each other and prepare ourselves for this incredible experience. When we arrive in Quito in the evening we’ll rest and prepare for the life-changing week ahead.

Day 2: Connecting with the Church

Sunday, February 26th: We will start our week by worshipping with our brothers and sisters in Christ at a local church here in this beautiful country. As we visit with the church pastors, leaders and staff we’ll learn more about why Compassion strategically partners with the Church.

Days 3-5: Embracing the Children

Monday, February 27th – Wednesday, February 29th: During the course of the next three days we will visit multiple student centers and learn how Compassion implements our holistic development program in Ecuador. Through games, songs, and activities with the children we will see first-hand their growth and joy and realize the God-given potential of each one! Embrace them…laugh together… and enjoy every moment as we experience a “day in the life” in the children’s homes, view the student center office to learn about the children’s dreams, meet incredible university students and share prayers and community with these precious little ones.

Day 6: Compassion in Action

The day you’ve been anticipating has finally arrived! Today you will meet the child you sponsor and connect in deeper ways! All the letters and cards sent between you will take on new meaning as you spend quality time with your child. Today is all about having fun with the children you love!

Friday, March 2nd: This morning we meet the staff at the country office in Quito. You’ll have another opportunity to ask questions and learn more about your partnership with the ministry of Compassion. The afternoon will be spent sightseeing and shopping at the local market!

Day 8: Heading Home

Saturday, March 3rd: After a week of immersing ourselves in all that Ecuador and Compassion have to offer we cannot help but be inspired and changed by our experiences. As we start to process together all that we have seen and heard you will feel a renewed sense of advocacy for children in poverty…one that has changed you forever. As we prepare to head home, we will debrief, say our goodbyes and remain hopeful for what God is doing in and through us all!

In order to ensure our children's protection and determine eligibility to travel with Compassion, we now require all travelers (over the age of 18) to complete a criminal background check to ensure the safety of the children in our programs.  Please visit Screening One Sponsor Tour BC to complete your online background check at the time of registration.  If you are unable to complete this online, please contact us and we will send you a paper form for you to fill out and return.  Compassion uses a third party vendor, Screening One to process background checks.  The results of your background check are confidential and all personal information is encrypted and secure.

RESERVATIONS should be made well in advance and require a nonrefundable deposit of $280.00 per person. Final Payment of $2120.00 is due no later than 11/9/2011.

Air transportation as included in the tour is based on economy-class transportation and is subject to all rules and regulations governing these fares. Fuel surcharges are added on a per-ticket basis at time of confirmation. In the event these surcharges are increasingly higher than budget estimates, we may require additional funds to cover these surcharges. We will communicate any pricing changes immediately.
