Roses often symbolize love, friendship, and special celebrations in our lives. Many of us have fond memories which involve these lovely flowers and now you can create another such memory by visiting Ecuador, a country which annually exports dozens of roses around the world! Each day will greet you with fresh bouquets of roses and lots of smiling children’s faces. Compassion will have served in Ecuador for 40 years in 2014. This tour is packed full of unforgettable moments. Ecuador has the full list of Compassion’s programs from the Child Survival Program (CSP), assisting mothers and babies, the Child Development Program (CDSP), one-on-one sponsorship with young children, and the Leadership Development Program (LDP), one-on-one sponsorship with college students, whose dreams and ambitions will take them far. The Complementary Interventions (CIV) activities, which address critical needs and work alongside the core programs, also benefit children in Ecuador.
During our tour, we’ll visit and experience centers just like the one your sponsored child attends, where the Compassion children receive the help, support, & love they need to grow up as successful and fulfilled adults. We will visit homes and be blessed by hearing the hearts of the caregivers and families of sponsored children. Children of all ages will share their testimonies and inspire us! The opportunity to spend a full day with your sponsored child, playing, getting to know each other, and creating lifelong experiences together, will undoubtedly be a highlight of this tour. We will also meet our dedicated Ecuadorian staff and center workers, who make your sponsorship and the help of many children possible every day. You will certainly grow to love the country, the culture, and the people. Prayerfully consider joining us today!

Day 1 – Saturday, August 9: Our Journey Begins:
We meet at the gate in Miami to begin our journey to Quito, Ecuador. After arrival, we’ll share a light dinner together and then rest up for the adventure God has for us this week!
Day 2 – Sunday, August 10: Church with our Compassion Family & Relaxing Afternoon:
What an amazing way to start our tour by gathering with our brothers and sisters in Christ for worship at a local church partner!
This afternoon we will travel to Mitad del Mundo (Middle of the World) to visit the Equator monument and enjoy other scenery along the way.
Day 3 – Monday, August 11: Seeing Compassion’s Programs Firsthand:
We begin our day with travel north across the beautiful countryside to the highlands in Otavalo. In the afternoon, we visit our first student center.
Starting before birth, the Child Survival Program (CSP) educates mothers on nutrition, health, and best practices for caring for their babies. We will visit the homes of mothers to learn about the hope now filling their lives.
Day 4 – Tuesday, August 12: Visiting a Child Student Center:
Welcomed at the student center, we focus on the Child Development Sponsorship Program (CDSP), by visiting classrooms, meeting teachers, and reviewing child files.
We will learn about how the Complementary Interventions program (CIV) comes alongside our centers to benefit children and communities.
Experiencing a typical day in the life of a Compassion child better equips us with the knowledge and understanding to appreciate the challenges faced by those in the program.
Day 5 – Wednesday, August 13: Success Stories & Shopping:
We share breakfast with Leadership Development Program (LDP) Students to fellowship & hear testimonies and dreams for the future.
On our way back to Quito, we spend time at the open air souvenir market for some shopping.
The excitement is building for one of the highlights of our tour – meeting your sponsored child face to face!
Day 6 – Thursday, August 14: Child Fun Day!:
Today is the day you have longed for– a chance to hug and share smiles with your sponsored child, spending a joyous day playing together & getting to know each other, beyond words on a page or a picture in a frame. A personal translator will help interpret more than words, as you express your love and care for this precious child!
Day 7 – Friday, August 15: Compassion Office Visit and Time of Reflection:
To summarize your Compassion experience in Ecuador, we are blessed to meet with our dedicated Country Office and staff. We will learn about processes such as letter-writing, financial reporting, and child information, while given the opportunity to ask questions about our programs & ministry.
A relaxing afternoon of shopping and sightseeing leads into our Farewell Dinner and time to reflect on the incredible stories we’ve experienced together.
Day 8 – Saturday, August 16: Homeward Bound:
With hearts brimming with memories, we say farewell to our friends and return home to share amazing stories with others. We pray that although the tour is ending, your experience will last!
