This promises to be no ordinary trip to India. I envision each member of this tour as a spark and that together we will become a flame of hope, inspiration and encouragement to the Evangelical church in the Easter part of India. Join this team of other believers from all across the United States as we become a ministry team charged with the task of encouraging the bride of Christ who is thriving against great odds to advance the Kingdom of God in this country.
India is home to over 1.2 billion people, many of whom are trapped in the most unimaginable conditions of poverty, and yet very quietly a huge army is growing, an army of children who are growing into the fullness of whom they were created to be. It is the Church in the midst of their communities that is reaching deep into their hearts and their homes with the love and freedom found only in Jesus. Our time is now and our friends in India are eager to meet you and I know you will be both captivated and challenged by the passion with which they serve the Lord through their lives.
Along the way we’ll learn the unique challenges they are facing, how additional Compassion programs like Child Survival and the Leadership Development Program are shaping this generation and just how ripe the harvest really is in this enormous country.
And of course you will also have the incredible opportunity to meet your sponsored child/children face to face. You will have a full day with your child/children in a child friendly environment where you can build memories to last a lifetime. So stop right now and pray, ask the Lord if He is calling you to India on this special tour and if He is I encourage you to step out in faith and register today. This will be an adventure you will never forget. See you soon!

Days 1-2: Traveling
Saturday/Sunday, November 2 & 3: India Airlines is ready to leave New York City/JFK late Sunday afternoon and we’re settled in our seats and ready for our East India adventure.
Day 3: Getting the Foundation
Monday, November 4: To get us off to the best start, we will begin this first day at a slower pace, yet interesting enough to stay awake as we transition to life in a new culture. Our first stop will be a visit to the Compassion East India country office where we’ll meet the incredible staff. This will also be a great opportunity to answer some of those questions you have brought with you about just how Compassion works operationally in these countries where we serve. These dedicated Christians have a calling on their lives to help the poor children and families of their country. Later an overview from the management team and a tour of the different departments helps us see the vastness of their work. How can they do so much with so little? After lunch we’ll take a brief tour of the city to add to the foundation upon which to build the rest of our adventure.
Day 4: Rescuing, Nurturing and Discipling Moms and Babies through Child Survival Program
Tuesday, November 5: Today we’ll focus on how the Child Survival Program (CSP) works. You’ll meet and interact with moms and babies who are blessed by this program, hear their testimonies and have opportunities to encourage them in their faith. The moms always love to show us some of what they learn through this program, so you are likely to hear them sing, quote scripture and view the handicrafts or other vocational training they have participated in. Later we’ll get to know them, the realities they face and the hopes/dreams they have for their little ones even better as we divide into teams for a visit to some of their homes. On our way back to the hotel we’ll have an opportunity to shop for some of the beautiful local outfits we have seen the people of India wear.
Days 5: Educating, Training and Discipling Young Leaders through Leadership Development
Wednesday, November 6: At the other end of the child development spectrum is the university students involved in our Leadership Development Program. Today, we plan to visit a typical university where we’ll meet some of these emerging young leaders to understand what this opportunity means for them. Later we’ll visit their homes to meet the moms/dads/grandparents whom they live with as they go to university. Can you imagine the awe and wonder these parents must have for their young adults, knowing the hardships they have faced and how unlikely it is that their child would attend university? We are sure to learn the qualifications and opportunities this program provides for them just in time so you have this information ready to share with your own dearly loved sponsored child in just a couple days.
Day 6 & 7: Child Interaction Days
Thursday/Saturday, November 7 & 9: Knowing how exciting it is to have opportunity to minister to and love on the children Compassion is serving through our Child Development Program, we have set aside two separate days to do just that. These student centers will be in full operation with hundreds of children. Visiting classes and sharing in their devotional time gives us a taste of what child development means. Interacting with them in crafts and sports we can picture them in a few years as fulfilled Christian adults. Thank God for godly pastors and workers who follow His calling to work with the children in their communities.
Day 8 Child/Sponsor Fun Day
Friday, November 8: Given the size of this massive country, it is nearly impossible for every sponsor to visit every child in his/her own context, so instead all children travel to a specific location and sponsors and children interact together at that location. If translators are needed (since in India many children already speak English fluently) they will be provided to assure that you can hear and say all that has been on your hearts when you get to meet face to face. The day will go by quickly, but the memories are sure to last a lifetime.
Days 9-11: Finishing and Going Home
Sunday/Monday/Tuesday: The capstone of our experience begins on Sunday as we join in praise and worship with new friends at a Compassion Implementing Church Partner. The beauty and artistry of their worship will leave you wanting more. After lunch you’ll have a second opportunity to finish up your shopping and we plan to have some interaction with some of Mother Teresa’s work in Kolkata. Our last day in-country we plan to visit one last child development center to hug on and encourage more children before our late night flight back to the United States. By the 12th, we are back in the US heading for home.
In order to ensure our children's protection and determine eligibility to travel with Compassion, we now require all travelers (over the age of 18) to complete a criminal background check to ensure the safety of the children in our programs.
Please visit Screening One Sponsor Tour BC to complete your online background check at the time of registration. If you are unable to complete this online, please contact us and we will send you a paper form for you to fill out and return. Compassion uses a third party vendor, Screening One to process background checks. The results of your background check are confidential and all personal information is encrypted and secure.
