This unique trip to Colombia will take us to the areas of Barranquilla and Santa Marta! Barranquilla is a cosmopolitan and, primarily, industrial city. You will see and experience poverty in this urban setting during the tour. It is located on the delta of the Magdalena river, making it the most important commercial sailing port to the Atlantic Ocean for the country. Residents are known as "Barranquilleros" and are characterized by their outgoing, friendly attitude and relaxed demeanor.
Santa Marta, is the oldest city in Colombia. In comparison to Barranquilla, its beautiful beaches and the stunning mountains of the Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta range fringe this historic city. Ancient ruins take cover in the lush mangrove forests and it is considered the premier vacation spot to most Colombians. It’s breathtaking in its beauty.
Amidst the rich and gorgeous scenery, this trip will also expose you to the very real need within the local Church, communities and families that Compassion serves! You will understand the impact of sponsorship! You will meet the parents who work so diligently to provide for their families. And, you will meet the heroes of the Church implementing Compassion's program and creating a bright future for your, and others, sponsored children. This trip will change you, grow you, humble you and BLESS you!
