Participation in the Prayer Partner Network is an essential part of Compassion's ministry for children and families in poverty.

April 2013 Prayer Calendar

One of the miracles of childhood is the boundless amounts of energy children have. When my son was a little boy, I would watch him play, running and jumping for hours at a time, and wonder, “How does he do it?”

Children are active, and as adults we can only do our best to keep up! And that activity and energy crosses all cultural and geographic boundaries, so it can be devastating to watch poverty seek to destroy it. To watch a hungry child grow listless and tired. To see a child’s steps slowed because of disease or heavy responsibility.

That’s why your prayers for Compassion-assisted children are so vital. We ask you to pray this month for renewed energy for those children who have jobs, go to school, and still find the time to attend a Compassion-assisted child development center. Pray for the health of those who suffer from treatable and preventable diseases. Pray, too, for energy for the Compassion staff so they can keep up with the children in their care.

And this month, can you also pray for the efforts of the thousands of churches holding Compassion Sunday events on April 21? This annual event gives partners of Compassion the chance to share the ministry of releasing children from poverty in Jesus’ name with their church families. And each year, through the efforts of these faithful friends, many children find sponsors. Please pray that they will be energetic, active and tireless on this special day. You can also visit compassion sunday for more information if you would like to hold an event of your own!

Thank you, once again, for all you do for these vulnerable children. Your prayers are such a blessing!
