January 2012 Prayer Calendar

Participation in the Prayer Partner Network is an essential part of Compassion's ministry for children and families in poverty.

January 2012 Prayer Calendar

Another year has gone by, and I am always grateful for the newness of January 1! While I may not be much for resolutions, I do think the fresh start of a new year is a great time for reflection. And an inevitable part of that reflection is examining my heart and my motivations and taking some time to recalibrate.

This year, please join me in a year-long time of reflecting. In my work, I have the privilege of spending time with thousands of children around the world. In those children, I see so many attributes that I want in my own life. So in 2012, will you join me each month in considering what it means to be childlike? In exploring Jesus’ command to “change and become like little children” (Matthew 18:3)?

One of my favorite characteristics among children both at home and around the world is innocence. It’s one of the very things Compassion works so hard to restore in the children we serve. Many of these children have been abused and exploited. Nearly all of them have had to shoulder adult burdens.

Will you pray for these children — that their innocence will be made new and their childhood returned? Please also pray for their protection, because innocence is a valuable commodity. Finally, remember our Compassion field staff in your prayers. Every day these heroes put their lives on the line so more than 1.3 million children can know safety and innocence.

Thank you again for your partnership in praying for children in desperate poverty. And may you find your own life filled with innocence and purity in the coming year.
