Vice President of Information Technology
James Finwick is the Vice President of Information Technology for Compassion International. In this role, Jim has global responsibility for all aspects of ministry technology including application development, networking, integration and system stability. A strategic implementer with a leadership agenda focused on business performance, Jim leads the team responsible for technology – enabling the enterprise by delivering cost-effective services and solutions. He has a track record of effective leadership in 30+ countries and cultures.
Jim is also the Executive Director and co-founder of the Camelot Consulting Group, LLC., a high technology and business consulting company specializing in organizational design effectiveness and web-based business solutions since 1994. Jim helped grow Camelot from two principles into a 15 person consulting firm generating over a million dollars in revenue a year. Camelot's clients spanned diverse industries from telecommunication and defense to international non-profits. Jim's strong business and technical experience provided a broad-based background which was key to successful account management for large-scale IT initiatives.
From July 1999 to July 2000, Jim served as the Chief Information Officer (CIO) of Métier, Ltd. In this position, Jim directed all aspects of information technology within Métier, including the definition and creation of WorkLenz (a web based application and service), coordination of alliances with strategic technical partners, and setting the technology direction for the enterprise. Prior to forming Métier, Jim held positions in application development and technical leadership with companies such as Chevron USA, IBM and Loral.
Jim is the author of a revolutionary methodology for successful project management which is protected by a US Patent (patent 7,212,986).
In addition to his work with Compassion, Jim’s ministry experience includes several short-term international mission trips as a student, and volunteer support in a wide variety of high school ministries on and off for 15 years. Jim has led a small group Bible study in his home since 1996. This wide range of experiences, with different sized groups and different ministry philosophies, has provided Jim with wealth of resources from which to draw.
Jim possesses strong motivational skills for increasing individual and group productivity and applies his unique ability to partner with individuals to ensure their absolute success.
Jim holds a Bachelor of Science degree in business administration with a concentration in management information systems (MIS) from California Polytechnic in San Luis Obispo, CA.
