Compassion Mexico has provided more information about the impact of Hurricane Barbara, which hit the Pacific coast near the city of Arriaga on May 29, 2013.
Communication has been difficult in the area. Many of the families of these children had to temporarily relocate because their homes were damaged. Some families lost personal belongings as well. Two caregivers were reported as injured but have recovered. No children were reported as injured. Five centers reported damage to their roofs and classrooms. The centers have used disaster relief funding to provide clean water, food and blankets. The centers are also helping clean up the area and homes and make minor repairs in the communities. Currently, 571 children from 11 projects have been affected.
Please continue to pray for the Lord’s protection and care of our children in Oaxaca and Chiapas.
Compassion Mexico will keep us updated as more information is available.
