Advisory: Extended Cold Weather in Bangladesh

Advisory: Extended Cold Weather in Bangladesh

  |   Posted: February 02, 2012

A wave of cold weather and fog has been affecting the north and northeastern regions of Bangladesh since December 18, 2011. Across the country, sixty-nine people have died from the effects of the cold weather. Symptoms have included cold, cough, dysentery, diarrhea, asthma and viral fever. The cold has damaged crops and the heavy fog has disrupted transportation. Many people are especially at danger during the night when temperatures drop.

The immediate needs of those affected are for blankets and warm clothing. Compassion Bangladesh has distributed blankets to 4107 families from 20 Compassion church partners and two Child Survival Programs.

Please pray for protection for those who are not accustomed to the cold temperatures. Ask for the Lord’s care of children and their families from weather-related illness in the affected areas of Bangladesh.

Compassion Bangladesh will keep us updated as more information is available. Compassion International will contact you if your sponsored child has been affected.
