On February 16, 2013, ethnic clashes resulted in violence in the Trans Mara and Kuria districts of Kenya. Houses were burned and an estimated 600 people were displaced.
Seven families from the COG Mashangwa Child Development Center (KE-428) were affected. The caregiver of one Compassion beneficiary died and another caregiver was injured during the violence. Six families were displaced from their homes. The affected families are currently staying in a Red Cross camp. KE-428 has suspended center activities until March 4, after a general election has been held. The staff members visited and provided counseling to the affected families.
Please pray for the safety of our Compassion-assisted families in the Trans Mara and Kuria districts. Please ask for the Lord’s comfort and strength for the family who lost their caregiver.
Compassion Kenya will keep us updated as more information is available.
