Advisory: Political Protests in India

  |   Posted: February 09, 2011

Recently, a political protest turned violent between an ethnic Nepali separatist movement and local police in the areas of east India.

According to news reports, two people have been killed with another 20 injured. Government buildings and vehicles have been damaged as well.

The national highway has been closed off and tea production has stopped for the time being.

Three Compassion-assisted child development centers are located in this area. These centers have temporarily suspended activities.

The Partnership Facilitator of these centers has confirmed that all the children are safe.

Please pray that the protests will be peacefully resolved. Also, please ask the Lord for His continued protection of the children.

Compassion India will keep us updated as more information is available.

Compassion International will contact you if your sponsored child has been affected.
