On February 14, 2013, a fire occurred at a local market in Ipelce, Burkina Faso, which is located south of Ouagadougou. More than 1,000 shops and sheds were destroyed in the fire. The cause of the fire has not been determined.

The families of 283 children from ERAD Panga be Wenne Student Center (BF-685) and Parole d’espoir Student Center (BF-900) lost their shops or sheds in the fire. These affected families also lost important business documents in the fire.

No injuries have been reported, and there are plans to rebuild the market. Compassion Burkina Faso will provide assistance as needed to the affected families.

Praise the Lord that no one was injured in the market fire. Please pray that the Lord will provide for the families who lost their livelihoods. Compassion Burkina Faso will keep us updated as more information is available.
