Hurricane Sandy has been a dangerous storm as it has moved throughout the Caribbean and up the East Coast this past week.

Currently, 752 children from 25 Compassion child development centers in Haiti have been affected. These children and their families have had their homes damaged or destroyed. In addition, their gardens have been ruined, farm animals have been lost, and personal belongings have been damaged or lost. Compassion’s country office, government agencies and schools reopened on Monday, Oct. 29, 2012, after being closed on Friday, Oct. 26. Water and emergency food items have been distributed to affected families. The country office continues to monitor the situation and will provide more information as it becomes available.

Please pray for the Lord’s protection of all of our Compassion-assisted families, implementing church partners and staff members in Haiti. Also, please pray for all of those in the Caribbean and along the Atlantic Coast who have been and will continue to be affected by the hurricane.

Compassion Haiti will keep us updated as more information is available.
