Hurricane Ernesto hit the Gulf of Mexico over the weekend of August 11, 2012. The hurricane brought heavy rains and rising waters to the areas of Oaxaca and Veracruz.

Fifteen Compassion-assisted child development centers are located in this area. Currently, none of the centers have reported major damage, but Compassion Mexico is in the process of contacting each center. Compassion Mexico has reported that there may be some damage to the homes of children from Little Drops of Living Water Student Center (ME-779), A Light Path Student Center (ME-781), and CDI Igle-Kid’s (ME-896); however, child lists are not currently available. Center staff and church members are visiting families to determine how they have been affected. It has been reported that all Compassion-assisted families are safe.

Compassion Mexico is carefully monitoring this situation and will provide more information as it becomes available.

Please pray for the Lord’s protection over and care for our children in Oaxaca and Veracruz.
