Advisory: Heavy Rains in Thailand

Advisory: Heavy Rains in Thailand

  |   Posted: March 29, 2011

Recently, a storm hit southern Thailand. The heavy rains, which have continued for four days, resulted in flooding in the southern provinces.

The areas that have been impacted by the flooding include:

  • Nakhon Si Thammarat
  • Narathiwat
  • Patthalung
  • Pattani
  • Surat Thani
  • Yala

One Compassion-assisted center is located in Nakhon Si Thammarat, TH-664 Kittikun Darunphat, and has been affected by the flooding.

The floodwaters at TH-664 rose so much that all documents, files, and computers had to be moved.  Currently, the center is without Internet connection.

The staff at this center estimates that almost all of the 90 children from TH-664 have experienced flooding in their homes. The town is providing shelter and food for those whose homes have been flooded.

At this time, the Compassion partnership fcilitator and staff from the center are visiting the families of the Compassion-assisted children to determine the level of need.

Please pray that the rains will stop and for the floodwaters to recede. Also, pray for the continued protection of the children, staff, and their families at center TH-664.

Compassion Thailand will keep us updated as more information is available.

Compassion International will contact you if your sponsored child has been affected
