UPDATE: Nov. 30, 2010 - The project fcilitator recently visited Child Survival Program center LKCS-14 (which was affected by the heavy rains) to monitor the situation and to make sure that the support needed is being provided.

The center was not directly affected.

The latest information reports that at least 10 families have been affected, including four pregnant women.

Please pray for our Child Survival Program mothers and children, that they would be safe and healthy as they endure this flooding.

Compassion Sri Lanka will keep us updated as more information is available.

Nov. 29, 2010- Recently, heavy rains fell causing flooding in Chilaw.

High tides and rising water levels around the lagoon as well as the opening of spillway gates (generally used to provide for the controlled release of flows from a dam) within the Colombo suburbs have intensified the crisis.

Child Survival Program center LKCS-14 has been affected, and at least seven mothers and their babies had to leave their homes and stay in shelters.
