Heavy rains and flooding occurred throughout Ecuador’s Guayas Province on March 19, 2013. The area suffering the most impact was the city of Guayaquil. Damage to homes and crops has been reported throughout the area.

Currently, the families of 89 children from Damasco Student Center (EC-330), Socorro de lo Alto Student Center (EC-334), Nueva Esperanza Student Center (EC-385), Camino a Jerusalem Student Center (EC-557) and Hay Vida en Jesus Student Center (EC-569) have been affected. As well, the families of six children from Socorro de lo Alta Child Survival Program (ECC15) were affected. The homes of these families were damaged. Some families have moved to temporary shelters and have lost personal belongings. Disaster committees have been formed by these centers and Partnership Facilitators to assess damages and respond to needs. The committees have provided water, food, clothing and hygiene kits to the affected families. The national government has also evaluated the disaster situation and has provided assistance.

Please pray for the affected families in the city of Guayaquil, Ecuador. Please pray that the rain and flooding will cease in this area.
