Advisory: Floods in Indonesia

Advisory: Floods in Indonesia

  |   Posted: March 23, 2011

Recently, heavy rains caused the Code River to flood through areas of Yogyakarta City.

Leftover volcano sediment brought about the overflowing of the river. The lava is a remnant from Mount Merapi, which erupted in October 2010.

Reports state that the flooding damaged many homes, which led families to seek temporary shelter.

Compassion-assisted center IO-775 is located in the affected area and has been impacted. So far, the families of at least seven Compassion-assisted children have been affected.

The homes of these families have been flooded and some personal belongings have been destroyed.

Please pray for the Lord's provision for the children and families whose homes have been damaged.  Please pray for the heavy rains to cease.

Compassion Indonesia will keep us updated as more information is available.

Compassion International will contact you if your sponsored child has been affected.
