Heavy rains have caused flooding in Sri Lanka’s Puttalam District since Dec. 18, 2012.

The families of 77 Compassion-assisted children from Inigodawela Child Development Center (LK-401), Sengaloya Child Development Program (LK-403), Puliyankadawara Child Development Program (LK-404), Dummalasooriya Child Development Program (LK-405) and Daduru oya Child Development Program (LK-406) have been affected. The homes of these families have been flooded and the families are staying in temporary shelters. Currently, a list of affected children is not available. Some roads are inaccessible due to the flooding. Compassion Sri Lanka is preparing to provide food and other emergency necessities to the affected families.

Please pray for the families who have been affected by the flooding. Please pray that the floodwaters will recede.

Compassion Sri Lanka will keep us updated as more information is available.
