Since June 18, 2013, monsoon rains have caused flooding and landslides in northern India. The most affected states are Uttarakhand and Himachal Pradesh. As a result, more than 130 deaths have been reported in these areas.

The flooding and landslides have caused difficulties in communication and transportation. Currently, no Compassion children, staff members, or their families have been reported as injured. Compassion India has informed us that currently no damage has reported from child development centers IN-981, IN-982 and IN-983.

The communities near these centers have been damaged, but currently Compassion families from these centers are safe. Families from centers IN-245, IN-288, IN-965, IN-966 and IN-967, however, have been affected. Partnership Facilitators are gathering information and will provide more details when that information is available.

Please pray for the safety of the children, Compassion staff members, and their families located in Uttarakhand and Himachal Pradesh.

Compassion India will keep us updated as more information is available.
