The government of El Salvador has issued an evacuation for families living near the Chaparrastique volcano, which erupted in December 2013.

The rainy season has begun and these families are in danger of flooding and mudslides.

Seventy families from ES-767 and ES-851 have been evacuated.

The families will be located in nearby communities, so attendance at project activities will not be affected.

Compassion El Salvador will provide other assistance as needed to these families.

Compassion El Salvador will keep us updated as more information is available.
