March 25, 2011 - On March 24, a 6.7 magnitude earthquake occurred in Myanmar and the northern provinces of Thailand, including Chiang-Rai and Chiang-Mai.

No tsunami activity has been reported.

The earthquake's epicenter is located 56 miles (90 km) north of Chiang-Rai and 146 miles (235 km) northeast of Chiang-Mai.

So far, no Compassion-assisted centers and no Compassion-assisted children have been affected

Compassion Thailand is still contacting every partnership facilitator in Chiang-Rai and Chiang-Mai to verify that all Compassion-assisted children are safe.

One Compassion-assisted center, Pradermsan Child Development Center (TH-961), was hosting an English camp for sponsored children and for Leadership Development Program students when the earthquake began. All of the children, students and staff were able to safely find shelter.
