At what age did you accept Christ? 12 years old
Where did you accept Christ? Home
Describe your family life: I live with my parents and grew up in the village of Sanclemente where I still live. I was born into a Christian family. Ever since I was little, my parents taught me to praise God and have Him as my all-in-all. Their teaching and the things I learned at church and the Compassion program have helped me to grow spiritually. My mom is in charge of the home. My dad is in a small banana crop planting business and this is what sustains the family. I have also been able to go to school since God has always helped us and provided for us. My sister, who still lives at home, is studying and is in the tenth grade. My family is grateful to God for allowing us the opportunity to be a part of the Compassion child development center. It has been a big help to our family.
Describe your childhood community environment: School was a very nice time in my life. It was my first experience in a classroom. I made my first friends and my first real challenges began. I wanted to learn everything quickly and immediately, but I had to take it one step at a time. It was wonderful when I began going to the child development center; everyday I learned something new. My childhood was one of the best parts of my life. We would also go on outings to places close by and my parents would pack food for us in 'vijao' leaves to eat later.
List your personal interests and hobbies: I like to spend my free time reading or listening to music. I also like spending time with friends and family.
List one of your overall goals for each category below: Academic: Maintain a good average in relation to that of my fellow classmates Economic/professional: Be able to do something related to my career after finishing my degree and improve my financial situation so I can help my family Physical: Take care of my body by putting into practice all the hygiene tips I have learned and keep an eye on my health Social: Interact well with the people who surround me, put into practice all the values learned and be sensitive to the problems my community is facing Spiritual: Serve God in any and every place I am and develop my ministry

TESTIMONY
How did you come to accept Christ as your personal Savior? Ever since I was a small girl, I was instructed in the laws of God. My parents taught me to love God and obey Him. One day, my mom was sick and told me to rub oil on my hands and place them upon her and pray for her. A short time later she was all better. This had a great impact on my life because I saw what God was able to do through me. After this event, I accepted the Lord into my heart and made the decision to serve Him for the rest of my life.
Describe your relationship with the Lord today. I have a very good relationship with God. I spend time alone with Him when I pray, read the Bible, meditate on His Word and sing. These are very special moments. I believe that we must feed our spirit so our lives will grow and we will be able to face difficulties.
What impact did Compassion have on your personal and spiritual development? During my time in the program, I was helped and trained in leadership and was able to attain a clearer vision of what I want to achieve and do. This gave me biblical knowledge and formed me with a Christ-centered character, to be sensitive and compassionate to the needs of those who surround me.
How are you currently serving in your local church? I work at my local church as a teacher in the children's Sunday school.
What person has had the most influence on your life and why? My dad has had the most influence on me because he guides me and has taught me to trust and have faith in God at all times.
How do you plan to use your degree to advance the kingdom of God? I will use my knowledge to help my community and talk to them about Christ.
What spiritual challenges do you think you will face during your university or LDP experience? One challenge will be the new environment. I will be dealing with new friends and professors and different activities.
What is your favorite Bible verse and why? I like 1 Peter 2:9. |
