Program Description:
The Jehova Jire Child Survival Program (CSP) serves little ones through age 3 and their caregivers, as well as expectant mothers. In addition to receiving regular nutritious food supplies, each mother receives a welcome gift of soap, shampoo and a warm quilt.
Pregnant mothers receive regular prenatal care and have access to medical assistance based on need. Caregivers of young children are taught how to prepare nutritious meals, monitor proper hygiene, and encourage the developmental activities children need in order to grow physically, emotionally, mentally and spiritually. Classes in income-generating skills like weaving, baking and art are offered to caregivers. Mothers also take part in Bible studies and retreats with other mothers as they grow spiritually and socially.
Project workers regularly visit the homes of caregivers and children to monitor health issues and the progress of program participants. They also help ensure that children and caregivers receive critical nutritional support, timely immunizations and medical assistance.
The streets in Pachacamac are covered with sand, and the dusty air causes respiratory infections in many children living there. While medical facilities are located close by, less than half of the residents can afford the cost of health care. With few opportunities for technical training, most adults work as street vendors for less than U.S.$3 a day. Most families can only afford bread and rice, leading to a high rate of malnutrition among adults and children.
Your prayers and contributions for the Jehova Jire Child Survival Program provide mothers with the knowledge and the resources to raise happy, healthy children. You can make a difference in the lives of mothers and their infant children by becoming a partner for this project today. |
