Where Your Money Goes

Contribution FAQ
Matching Gifts

Increase your giving power!

Many businesses and companies, whether big or small, have programs set up that encourage their employees to give money to nonprofit organizations. If your place of employment has a matching gifts program, you can make your contributions to Compassion go further than ever.

Are you retired? You may still be eligible to participate through your former employer's program.

How does it work?

Typically, if a company has a matching gifts program, for every dollar an employee donates to a charity, the company also donates a dollar to the same organization. Some employers choose to double — or even triple — match their employees' donations. Through this program, Compassion benefits from the generosity of numerous friends and their places of employment every year.

All matching gifts that Compassion receives are placed in our Partners of Compassion (POC) Fund. This fund makes special projects possible that go beyond child sponsorship. If you are a Compassion sponsor and your company chooses to match your monthly $32 contribution, the $32 you contribute will support your child as usual, while the $32 your company contributes will go to our POC fund.

Whether you contribute to Compassion through monthly sponsorship, recurring donations to a specific fund or a one-time gift, your contribution in any amount is eligible for a matching gift. We greatly appreciate your generosity.

It's easy to participate! Here's how:

Compassion International
Attn: Donor Relations
12290 Voyager Parkway
Colorado Springs, CO 80921-3668

We will complete the form, mail it back to your employer, and notify you when the matching gift arrives.

  • If your company is not listed with us, ask your matching gifts coordinator to consider Compassion as a charitable organization for the matching gifts program. He or she may want the following information:

Compassion International is a not-for-profit organization recognized as tax exempt under section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code. Donations to Compassion are considered tax-deductible under section 170 of the code.

Since 1952, Compassion has existed as an advocate for children, to release them from their spiritual, economic, social and physical poverty and enable them to become responsible, fulfilled Christian adults. We minister to more than 1 million children in 24 developing countries around the world.

Once your company chooses to include Compassion in its matching gifts program, simply follow the steps listed above in order to have them match your gifts.

"I decided to use my company's matching gift program at a two-for-one match. … What a difference it is making! With my company's matching gift program, we are far extending the impact we could make in this world for God's glory based on just our financial ability. I can't imagine why others would not take advantage of this same wonderful opportunity."
