Masese, Uganda

258 children

Pastor Billy Alambuya Melchizadek is changing Masese as he serves the children in Jesus’ name. This church oversees a Compassion child development program and is looking to partner with a church in the U.S.

  • Compassion-sponsored children receive regular health screenings, hygiene education, mosquito nets, and academic support.
  • Other programs at this center include: music, dramas, sports, storytelling, home visits, social skills and confidence building activities, field trips, counseling, crafts.
  • Parents of these children have the opportunity to attend positive parenting workshops and participate in income-generating activities.

I'd like to learn more about UG-552:

  • The humid plains of Masese are home to 20,000 people.
  •  Typical homes are constructed of cement, mud, and corrugated iron roofs
  • Social concerns: high levels of poverty, negative cultural practices like early marriage, unemployment, slowly growing market for income-generating activities.
  • Health issues: malaria, water-borne illnesses, HIV/AIDS, malnutrition.
  • Walukuba Deliverance Church has partnered with Compassion since 2008.
  • The church was started in this community to address the spiritual and physical needs of the people.
  •  They serve their community through several ministries as well as Biblical teaching and discipleship.
  • Relationships are continuously being built between the church and community.
  • The light and hope of Jesus is being taught and accepted by many.
  • Physical needs are beginning to be met, starting with Compassion-sponsored children and their families.
*Consider using this profile as a tool to begin a discussion with your leadership to see how it may fit with your church's vision and mission. While we cannot guarantee you will be partnered specifically with this Pastor, we are seeking participants for our Church to Church strategy.
