AFCEA Church

Lubao, Kenya

Pastor Zakayo M. Omusula is changing Lubao as he serves the children in Jesus' name. This church oversees a Compassion child development program and is looking to partner with a church in the U.S.

This Child Development Center has served children and families in Lubao for the past three years. Children participate in Bible studies and have access to spiritual teaching and counseling sessions. Health screening, health education, and vocational training are available for both parents and children. Help with school work and many other school related needs are provided for as well.

I'd like to learn more about KE-385:

Lubao is a town of 30,000 people situated in a dry and hilly area. Houses are typically constructed of dirt floors, clay or mud walls, and tin roofs. Main health concerns are HIV/AIDS, malaria, and malnutrition. On average, 50% of the children in this community complete elementary school. Some families earn about $20 per month as laborers, but the majority of the population is unemployed.

Africa for Christ Evangelistic Association is the church home for 200 adults and 260 children. The church began with house to house evangelism and has now continued their evangelism focus as they open a second church in a neighboring community. The church vision for their children is based on Proverbs 22:6 "Direct your children onto the right path and when they are older, they will not leave it."

  • 297 children participate in the Child Sponsorship Program.

  • Tailoring and carpentry vocational training programs are available.

  • This church has been partners with Compassion for 3 years.

  • Goals include increasing economic empowerment of families

  • School fees, uniforms, text books, and exercise books are provided for children participating in the Child Sponsorship Program.

  • Children are encouraged to work hard academically for a better future.

  • The parental education offered is a great way to reach out and create change in the community.

*Consider using this profile as a tool to begin a discussion with your leadership to see how it may fit with your church's vision and mission. While we cannot guarantee you will be partnered specifically with this Pastor, we are seeking participants for our Church to Church strategy.
