Godfrey Miheso

At the age of 7 Godfrey was enrolled in a Compassion assisted program at a local church in Africa’s second largest slum.  Compassion provided him with medical attention, school tuition, clothing and even a soccer ball! Through the Compassion program he learned about Christ and began to grow.

When he graduated from high school, his dream was to go to college and study Journalism.  His pastor put him in touch with Compassion-Kenya, and with their help, half of his tuition to attend college and get a 2-year Associate’s Degree in Journalism was covered. After graduating, Godfrey desired to continue his studies; so he applied for scholarships at Sterling College in Kansas and was granted a soccer and academic scholarship.  The soccer skills learned at the Compassion project played a major role in securing the athletic scholarship. He has just completed his Bachelor’s Degree in Communications and Public Relations! Over and over Godfrey states with deep conviction, “Compassion gave me an opportunity to nurture my skills as a team player, servant-leader and communications specialist for the glory of God.  I believe that I am a responsible, fulfilled Christian who has been lifted socially, physically, and most importantly, spiritually from poverty.  I would never be where I am today without the help of Compassion”.
