Pray for the children in your life.
Prayer is perhaps the most powerful tool we have as believers and child advocates. Our intercession on behalf of the children in our lives should be a priority. During the month of May, prayer is the focus of two initiatives, one national and one global. While Christians around our country and around the world gather together in prayer during these two campaigns, why not take the opportunity to pray for children in your world?

National Day of Prayer
May 4, 2006, is the 54th annual National Day of Prayer. On the first Thursday of May each year, millions of Christians throughout the United States pray in unity for their world, their nation, their communities, and their families.
The National Day of Prayer was established as an annual event in 1952 by a joint resolution of the United States Congress and signed into law by President Harry S. Truman. The observance of the National Day of Prayer is founded on the constitutional rights of freedom of speech and freedom of religion and can be celebrated by all Americans. President Ronald Reagan amended the law in 1988, designating the first Thursday of May each year as the National Day of Prayer.

Global Day of Prayer
The Global Day of Prayer is the finale to a 10-day worldwide effort to focus on prayer. Its mission is to unite the global Body of Christ, seek God's revival, and intercede on behalf of our world. This year's Global Day of Prayer is June 4, 2006.
The Global Day of Prayer began with a powerful movement of prayer and revival in Africa in March of 2001. On this day of repentance and prayer, 45,000 Christians gathered in Cape Town, South Africa, to seek God's face. Since then, this group of prayer warriors has grown to nearly 20 million.
This year, Africa's Christian community is inviting the world to join them for the second annual Global Day of Prayer.
Last year, more than 200 million believers in 156 countries around the world united for this global celebration. This year's event will take place on June 4 in stadiums and churches around the world. Starting in the East (Fiji), the world will start praying as the sun rises. Throughout the day, the concert of prayer will continue across the different time zones until the sun sets in the West (USA Hawaii). This year's Global Day of Prayer will include a focus on youth and will join with the Viva Network's World Day of Prayer for Children at Risk.
