Child Sponsorship Program

Of the 2.2 billion children around the world, one billion of them currently live in poverty. Through your charitable giving, our Christian child ministry works to reduce this unsettling number one child at a time.

For a tax-deductible donation of just $32 a month, Compassion will connect you to one special child who will know your name, write you letters and, most importantly, cherish the very thought that you care. Your sponsored child will not only be connected with you, he or she will also be connected with a beneficial church-based program offered through our Christian child charity organization. Through your charitable giving, Compassion’s Child Sponsorship Program will provide:

• Health care and supplemental nutrition, if necessary
• Opportunities for safe, healthy recreation
• Opportunities to learn about important life skills
• Most important of all, sponsoring a child will allow your child to hear about Jesus and be encouraged to develop a lifelong relationship with God.

Select a Child to Sponsor

When you decide to sponsor a child through our Christian child charity, you can use various options to select a child.

• Search for a child

You can simply browse through the photos of the hundreds of children still waiting — and hoping — for a generous sponsor. While you browse, you can also read the biographies of each of the children registered with our Christian child charity organization.

You can also select a child to sponsor by searching for children with specific characteristics. With our Christian child ministry, you can search for a child with a specific age, gender, region, country or birthday. Find a child with the same birthday as you, or possibly the same birthday as your children, grandchildren, niece or nephew. You also have the opportunity to sponsor an orphaned child, or a child who has a physical or mental disability.

If you cannot choose a child to sponsor, Compassion can select one for you. When you select this option, you can submit a request to our child charity organization asking us to choose either the boy or girl who has been waiting the longest, or a child with unique characteristics.

You have many different opportunities when you become a sponsor through our Christian child charity, but no matter which child you decide to sponsor, you will be profoundly changing the future of that child’s life.

Tax-Deductible Donations to Our Child Charities

Our child charity organization offers many different programs to which you can make tax-deductible donations in order to help improve the lives of children in need.

Child Survival Program

Each day, 30,000 children die from malnutrition and other preventable causes. Compassion’s Child Survival Program educates the mother or primary caregiver both before and after birth in the following areas:

• Growth Monitoring
• Oral Rehydration Therapy (ORT)
• Breast Feeding
• Immunization
• Female Literacy

Education in these areas helps saves poor children from preventable diseases that often prove fatal.

Leadership Development Program

Another worthy cause is our Leadership Development Program. By supporting this program through our Christian child ministry, you help young Compassion-assisted men and women earn a university education and develop their leadership skills so that they may one day influence their churches, communities and nations.

At Compassion, we are committed to using our funds in a way that is specified by you, the sponsor. We guarantee that when you make a tax-deductible donation to our Christian child ministry, more than 80 percent of it will be used in program activities for the children.

At any time, you may request a copy of our financial audits, which we complete every year. These audits itemize the total expenses of our Christian child charity organization. To supplement our annual reports, we also insist on program audits to determine the effectiveness of our programs in the lives of children.
