Who Can Get Involved in Child Advocacy? YOU Can.

Learn how you can be a voice for children living in poverty through child advocacy.

Understanding child advocacy

Child advocacy begins with understanding poverty. Sometimes the issues of poverty can seem overwhelming. But the first step toward child advocacy is educating yourself about children in poverty. Here are a few facts to help you better understand poverty *:

  • More than 1 billion (one in five) people live on less than U.S.$1 a day.
  • More than 1.6 billion people lack access to electricity and modern forms of energy.

Every day, 1,300 women and nearly 11,000 newborns globally die due to complications that could have been prevented.

Approximately 143 million children in the developing world (one in 13) are orphans.

More than 10 million children under age 5 die each year. Two-thirds of these deaths — more than 6 million deaths every year — are preventable.

Engage in child advocacy today!

Doing something about these numbers starts with finding your voice — engaging in child advocacy. And you can make a difference! You can help rescue children in need and save lives. Learn how to be a child advocate
