Adopt a child or sponsor a child? How adopting a child is different from sponsoring a child.

Can I adopt a child through Compassion International?

This is a frequently asked question. If you want to learn how to adopt a child, it's best to work with a reputable child adoption agency. Compassion does not offer child adoption services. Compassion believes, in many cases, it's most effective to help children grow in Christ in their native countries. This way, communities and nations can be transformed by God's love as well. Even though you cannot adopt a child through Compassion, you can sponsor a child  and change a child's life forever!

I can't adopt a child. Is there an alternative?

Though you cannot adopt a child through Compassion, sponsoring a child is a wonderful alternative. Compassion does not have children waiting for adoption, but we have thousands of children hoping to be sponsored. When you sponsor a child, you build a long-lasting relationship with your child and meet many basic needs. You can write to your child. You can even visit your child. For loving people who do not have the resources to adopt a child, sponsoring a child may be the perfect way to show Christ's love.

Compassion may not be able to help you adopt a child, but you can still offer hope to a child in need! When you sponsor a child through Compassion, you provide a child living in poverty with:

  • food and clean water as needed
  • educational opportunities
  • health care
  • the opportunity to hear the good news of Jesus Christ and grow in his or her relationship with God
  • a relationship with you — you and your child will build a close bond  as you write letters to one another. You can even visit your child in his or her country!

Sponsor a child today for just $32 a month! Compassion is ready to match you with a child in need. If you're not able to adopt a child, consider child sponsorship. You will still have the ability to offer a child the basic necessities of life, as well as the hope of Jesus Christ.

You can still offer a child in need a new beginning, even if you are unable to adopt a child or sponsor a child! Please make a tax-deductible donation to Compassion and support the ministry as it continues releasing children from poverty in Jesus' name. Compassion currently assists more than 1 million children in 25 countries. You may not be able to adopt a child, but you can still save lives! Partner with Compassion to reach children in need all over the world!
