Robert L. Hawkins, Jr. was born in Bridgeton, N.J. He joined Compassion International's Board of Directors in 2001. Robert's professional experience includes vice president of marketing for World Vision Inc., where among other things he directed their child sponsorship program.
He has also worked with the Time Warner organization in various roles including director of new market development for Columbia House; vice president and general manager for Fortune magazine's conference division; and chief marketing officer for Essence Communications.
Robert is also an attorney who worked as an associate with the law firm of Maron Marvel Bradley and Anderson, where he also headed up the firm’s technology division, which provided online litigation support services to law firms and FORTUNE 500 companies. He has also served on the board of directors of the Gospel Music Association and the Delaware YMCA.
Robert has a bachelor's degree in economics from the University of Pennsylvania. He received his juris doctorate degree from Widener University School of Law, as well as a certification in business organizations law from the Institute of Delaware Corporate Law.
Robert currently heads Hawkins Counsel Group, LLC a law firm which he founded that focuses on business law. In addition, Robert is cofounder of Seeds of Greatness Ministries, Inc., where he also serves as executive director and general counsel. He and his wife A’Lexa have three children: A’arika, Robert III and Rachel-Alexandria.
