DRC25 Walking with Christ CSP - 232x220 Life is difficult—and often dangerous—for young mothers in the crowded urban neighborhood of Barrio Capotillo located in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic. Violence is not uncommon as rival gangs vie for territory and police pursue drug offenders. Shootouts have become almost commonplace.

With 100,000 people jammed into one square kilometer, it’s not easy to escape the turmoil and danger. And with few medical facilities and limited city services available, it’s not easy for young mothers to rear small children. (Children under 5 make up 23 percent of the community’s population.)
