Caedmon's Call

It's All About Changing Lives through Christian Music

The seven members of contemporary Christian music band Caedmon's Call share not only a common love for Christian music, but also a deep concern for helping poor children. That's why all the members sponsor children and why they share Compassion's vision with audiences at every concert.

"Every time we play a show, 30 to 40 kids get sponsored," said guitarist Andrew Osenga. "It's humbling, having been to places like Ecuador and seeing these families and people. It's such a greater impact than I imagined, even after I sponsored a kid."

"It's not even so much about the music at this point with Caedmon's. We really are getting to change people's lives. We get to facilitate that. It's going to be great as the band focuses more on that in the next year or two. Kids are going to get fed and be healthy. Families are going to get to stay together."

Lead vocalists Cliff and Danielle Young had an opportunity travel to Ecuador to visit Giesella, the little girl they sponsor through Compassion. "Meeting Gisella, the child Cliff and I sponsor through Compassion, was much more emotional than I anticipated," Danielle shared. "She is so precious and is much like my girls in many ways. She was very shy because so many eyes were on her. She eventually got comfortable enough with me that she grabbed my hand when we walked from the Compassion project to her house. It was an amazing day."

Band members have found inspiration for their music by ministering to the poor in nations like Ecuador, India, Brazil and Haiti. As Cliff Young explained, "The truth is, as believers, we've been called to help these people. We should be asking how we can use the gifts we've been given to go to all the world and live out the message of the Gospel."
