Luis' prayer

The world is changed as children — and sponsors — are affected through sponsorship. Ask Amy Grant, who has been a Compassion sponsor and spokesperson for years.

"My children and I were deeply moved when we visited Luis, one of the boys we sponsor in Guatemala," says Amy. We became very fond of Luis and his mother.

"Before we left, they asked to pray with us. His mother led. Then Luis wrapped his arms around me. He prayed that God would make all my music and that God would bless all the songs I sang so I could continue to be his sponsor.

"Luis was 9. He'd probably never heard the radio, much less a song I'd sung. That prayer completely wiped me out.

"Sponsorship is one of those things that makes a profound difference years down the road, in our lives as well as those of the children."
